Have you ever felt that the worst part of you are your best intentions? Trying to keep this blog on a “current basis” certainly is a point “prover” I’d just as soon not face.
When I reticently peeked at the last post and date I wrote, I was embarrassed. The title was – “Busy, Busy, Busy — But never too busy to spend time with you!” Reading that made me feel as fraudulent as a politician’s promise. Lots has transpired since my last post. My new book is in stores and I’ve been scrambling from “A” to “B” to promote it. I’m submitting a new historical novel to agents and publishers. I’m working with my new editor and publisher to sharpen our ability to market our books. There are to many items to list here. As I said, I have a semi load of excuses. It’s catch-up time; one event or bit of info per post. No promises other than I’ll do better.
I’ll start by discussing my trip to White Plains to attend the Unicorn Writers Conference. If you want to spend your money wisely and advance your knowledge of what is required to be a successful author, attend one of these. You get exposed to some of the fine professionals in the publishing world and you get an honest evaluation of where your skills and how salable your works are in today’s market. I’ve attended many conferences. There is night and day differences in their contribution to your learning experience. One of my next posts will be what to look for in selecting a great conference.
The people who run Unicorn are consummate professionals. The agents and editors represent a who’s who in publishing. If you ever have the opportunity … GO!
