Wow is it hot! Florida’s summer has set in with a vengeance. The humidity wilts anything it comes in contact with. My buddy Sandy and I stay sequestered inside, desperately hoping the AC doesn’t break down. The rest of the country has the oven turned on also. It was 119 in Arizona in the last couple days. That’s hot. I’ve been in heat like that several times. It was so hot one time that airplanes couldn’t take off because of the “light” nature of the air. That was at 122. I received a couple messages from I-net buddies in Europe asking us to bottle some heat and send it to them. They claim they’re having a cold summer.
I’ve received some good news from my publisher. The switch to traditional print run and to a different distributor that’s been in progress in some form since August of last year is in its final stages. Problems some of you have complained about not being able to get my books through B&N, Books-a-million, Amazon, etc. should be at an end. If you have a problem go to Midpoint Book Sales & Distribution – you can order direct from them temporarily.
I have to get away from the keyboard once in a while when I’m working on a new book (To Hear the Sound of Wings) So I went behind the house, limbered up my lightest fly rod, and caught a few of the baby tarpon who are frequenting the canal just now. Below is a picture.
A note to those who are interested in my speaking to a civic club, book club, military organization, etc. The fall’s dates are quickly filling. Check my web site at http://www.dlhavlin.com to see what’s been scheduled and to contact my publicist for an appearance. I don’t charge, but need advance notice and in extreme situations the defraying of some of my expense.
