Come see me! I’ll be at a number of southwest Florida Locations in the next couple weeks.
First, it’s been a busy few weeks! I’ve been to the Horse Creek Arts Festival where I got to meet a lot of good folks, Patrick Smith Days (a celebration of that fine author and his favorite subject, Florida in its pioneer days), the 50th anniversary of the Pine Island Library, Whiskey Creek Country Club’s Christmas Arts festival and one of my special haunts the Matlacha Menagerie.
I was one of the guest authors at the celebration of Lee County’s Pine Island branch library’s 50th anniversary. It was great to meet all those fine folks, chat about reading, discuss books and the facility and its wonderful personnel.
The Horse Creek Festival is a great place to discover new artists. Those of you who are looking for new painters who really have undiscovered talent, check this one out next year. One of may favorite events is the Whiskey Creek get- together. Since it’s one I’ve been invited to for several years, I get to meet many folks who are my readers. Knock on wood – they all claim to love me – It’s always nice to hear good things about your work and you hope it’s true.
I always enjoy my visits and signings at the Matlacha Menagerie. It’s my “home book store” and if you haven’t stopped by, do so when you visit southwest Florida. There are so many unique items there!
My first visit to Patrick Smith days will certainly not be my last. I was invited to be the featured story-teller on Saturday, November 17. We sat around a campfire after enjoying a sumptuous steak dinner prepared by our hosts, Megan, Rose, and Gary. Afterwards, I had an opportunity to tell some Florida tales and explain some Florida history to a wonderful group of people. Put next years Patrick Smith Days on your calendar. Its held on the Crescent “J” Ranch south of Orlando on US441 near Kenansville – the home of Florida Forever and Florida Eco-tours. What a great place to see Florida as it was! A visit there at any time is the great use of one of your days. The pictures that follow are from some of my appearances.
Now, where I’ll be.
If you’re in the Cape Coral, Ft Myers, or Pine Island area, visit me Friday November the 30th at the Holiday House of Hope, a charity benefit for the Beacon of Hope a Pine Island organization that helps less fortunate folks through tough times. It’s held at the historic Tarpon Lodge, at 13771 Waterfront Drive, in Pineland – 33922. I’ll be there from 5:30 to 8:30. Entertainment, artists, authors, and a masterfully decorated setting are sure to get your holiday feelings ignited.
On Saturday and Sunday the 1st and 2nd of December I’ll be at the Springhill Suites Holiday Book Fair, 1532 US highway 41, Venice, FL 34293. It’s open from 1 to 5 both days. Come chat with me!
